193. サメハダホウズキイカ
Cranchia scabra Leach, 1817
大きさ 外套長13cm。
特徴 外套膜は樽型で丸く、鰭は小さく丸い。外套膜全面及び鰭の基部域は軟骨様の星状突起に密におゝわれている。外套膜背中線上には軟甲が表われている。頭部と外套膜は癒着していて軟骨器を欠く。頭部は小さいわりに大きな眼をもち、眼の腹面に14個の発光器がある。腕は短く2列の吸盤があり、それらの角質環には歯がない。雄第Ⅳ腕は交接腕。触腕は柄部には小吸盤が2列に並び、掌部には4列並ぶ。
付記 外套表面の特異な軟骨突起は外套長10mm以下のものでも表われ、他種と紛れることはない。
Mantle 13 cm long, barrel-shaped, covered by cartilaginous stellate tubercles all over. Fins small, separated from each other. Gladius apparent on the mid-dorsum forming a lanceola posteriorly. Eyes large with 14 photophores ventrally. Arms short, with 2 rows of suckers. Left ventral arm hectocotylized. Tentacle rather weak with 2 rows of minute suckers on the stalk and 4 rows of normal suckers on club.

194. ホウズキイカ
Liocranchia reinhardti (Steenstrup, 1856)
大きさ 外套長10cm。
特徴 外套膜は袋状樽形で、後方細まり、鰭は丸く後位。背中線上には軟甲が表われていてその上に微細な棘がある。外套膜は頭部に癒着していて、腹面の癒合部には ∧ 型の軟骨隆起があり、軟骨条上には小棘が並ぶ。頭部は小さいが、眼球は大きく、14個の発光器が2列に並ぶ。腕は短かく、吸盤は2列に並ぶ。触腕には4列の吸盤がある。
付記 本属は外套膜の漏斗接着点に ∧ 型軟骨条があるので、同類の他属と直ちに区別される。同属の他の1種ヒメホウズキイカL. valdiviaeは、やゝ細身で、軟甲上に小棘がない。
Mantle thin, saccular but tapering posterioly. Fins oval, posteriorly situated. Head part fused with mantle. A pair of inverted Ⅴ-shaped cartilaginous streaks at position of both mantle-funnel fusions. Minute spinous tubercles present on gladius on mid-dorsum. Eyes bulbous with 14 photophores ventrally. Arms short, with biserial suckers. Tentacular club with 4 series of suckers.

195. トウガタイカ
Leachia pacifica (Issel, 1908)
大きさ 外套長8cm。
特徴 外套膜は細長く、薄質、前端腹縁例葉角のところから後方に向って軟骨様の条線が走る（外套長の1/7ぐらい）。鰭は横長の楕円形で、幅は外套長の40％。眼は大きく、2列の発光器がある。第Ⅲ腕は特に強い。成熟雌では先端に黒い葉片を生じる。雄の右Ⅳ腕は交接腕化。触腕には吸盤列が4列あり中列の数個が大きい。
Mantle elongated, thin-walled, 8 cm ML, with cartilaginous streak originated from ventral lobes to about 1/7 behind posteriorly. Fins tranasversely oval, FWI about 40. Eyes large, bulbous, with 2 rows of photophores. Arm Ⅲ strong, with black terminal lobe in fully matured female. Right Arm Ⅳ of male hectocotylized. Tentacle club with 4 rows of suckers of which mesial several enlarged.

196. ゴマフホウズキイカ
Helicocramchia pfefferi Massy, 1907
大きさ 外套長4cm。
特徴 外套膜は袋状で水滴型。表面に明瞭な色素胞の数横列がある。鰭は小さく櫂型で左右片は癒合する。漏斗が異状に大きく、眼は僅かに突出する。腕は弱いが、触腕は強く太く、吸盤は4列。
Mantle saccular and drop-shaped, 4 cm ML, with distinct several transverse rows of chromatophores. Fins small, paddle-shaped, with both lobes fused together. Funnel enormous. Arms weak. Eyes slightly protruded. Tentacle strong with 4 rows of suckers on club.
