Mantle is rather elongate for the genus, with ML 3.5 times MW. Ventral mantle ornamented with ill-defined 10 longitudinal rows of photophores, among which 6 rows of large organs also grouped trasnsveresly. Smaller organs more numerous than large ones. A pair of large photophores embedded on both sides of tail. Subocular photophores 5 in number. Right arm ϊM of male hectocotylized with a pair of lunate flaps. Six large photophores present on the tip of arm ϊM, but not pigmented unlike those in Abraliopsis. Tentacle dactylus suckers in 4 rows continuous to manal sucker rows of which ventral row modified into 5 large hooks.

Mantle short conical. Ventral mantle ornamented by numerous photophores of two types, leaving a midventral bare strip. Subocular photophores 6 in number, of which terminal two irregular in shape and opaque. Mesial 4 subequal in size, frequently interposed by 2 much smaller photophores. Male arm ϊM hectocotylized with a low lunate flap. Dorsal two rows among 4 tentacle manal sucker rows modified into 6-7 hooks. Dactylus suckers in 4 compact rows. This species seems to be an immature stage of A. lucens Voss, 1963 described from the Philippine Islands.

ML 2.5 cm. Mantle short conic., ornamented with approximately 6 longitudinal rows of photophores ventrally. Subocular photophores vary from 5 to 8, terminal organs being large but the rest variable in size. Arm ϊM of male hectocotylized with a pair of offset lunate crests of which ventral one larger and with a shallow concavity in the middle. Tentacle rather weak with 4 rows of dactylus suckers, and 15-16 manal suckers and 2-3 strong hooks.

Mantle conical, ML 2 cm in male and 3 cm in female, ornamented by about 600 irregularly distributed, photophores. Photophores on ventral head also irregular except those on circumference of eyes. Eye ball with 5 photophores of which both terminal and central ones larger than other two. Arm ϊM of male hectocotylized with 2 offset lunate crests.Tentacle rather weak, with 7-8 suckers and 2 hoks on manus and 4 rows of dactylus suckers in 16 transverse rows. A. grimpei Voss, 1965 is separable from this species in having 7 subocular photophores and 12 hooks on the arm ϊM (only 5-7 in this species).
