Mantle short conical. Ventral mantle ornamented by numerous photophores of two types, leaving a midventral bare strip. Subocular photophores 6 in number, of which terminal two irregular in shape and opaque. Mesial 4 subequal in size, frequently interposed by 2 much smaller photophores. Male arm ϊM hectocotylized with a low lunate flap. Dorsal two rows among 4 tentacle manal sucker rows modified into 6-7 hooks.
