Small sepiid with elongate mantle, MW 35-40% ML. Dorsum dark brownish. Arm úKof male pronouncedly elongated, nearly 4 times ML, with normal suckers to the middle, but become tape-like distally by fusing frilled protective membranes of both sides. Tentacle club crescent, with 90-110 suckers in 8 rows, with several enlarged suckers in the middle. Shell Doratosepion-type, very slender, SW one-sixth SL, with the widest part situated anterior quarter. Occasionally caught in shallow waters in Sagami Bay and southwestward. |

Small cuttlefish with brownish gray dorsum. Tentacular club with oblique 8 rows of 60-80 suckers of which several of inner 2-3 rows slightly larger than others. Shell Doratosepion-type, with cup-shaped outer cone and long, sharp spine. Abundant in shallow waters and locally utilized. |

This species is distributed to the northernmost range of Indo-Pacific sepiids. |

Mantle conical rather than oval. Fins wide, 48% MW, with 6 oval, orange maculations along the base. Tentacle club with 80-100 suckers in 7 rows, among which central 3 extremely large and surrounded by several moderately large ones. Shell of Doratosepion-type, SW 19(‰)-23(Š)% SL, with strong median ridge. Inner cone U-shaped and outer cone cup-shaped, with deep V-shaped incision ventrally. Occasinally trawled from 190-400m, south of Suruga Bay, Tosa Bay, and the East China Sea. |
